The Valley: A Keeping

Alongside the development of Sweetheart: Angel of the Moor, I’ve created a small companion book-object titled The Valley: a keeping.
It isn’t a retelling of the film’s story, and it doesn’t explain it. Instead, it gathers moments — landscape, memory, hymn, and remembered voices — that surround the world the film inhabits.
I wanted to make something that could be held.
Something opened slowly.
Something returned to its place.
The book grew out of time spent walking the land, reading, listening, and sitting with what remains when a story refuses to be rushed. It reflects a way of working that matters to me: letting place speak first, and allowing meaning to emerge quietly rather than be imposed.
This version of The Valley is being shared freely online as a development artefact. It will inform voiceover exploration and visual research as the film moves forward, and it may later evolve into a more detailed printed object connected to the finished work.
For now, it exists simply as a keeping.
