Nidd Films is an independent production company based in North Yorkshire. Specialising in historical drama and true-story adaptations that explore regional history, cultural memory, and emotional truth.
Mark Anthony Writer–Producer ​
With a background in Theatre and Arts Management and more than 30 years’ experience teaching theatre, drama, media and English, Mark brings a deep understanding of character, narrative and human truth. He is currently completing an MA in Producing for Film & Television, shaping Nidd Films into a home for bold, culturally specific British storytelling.
Current Project
Our launch project, Sweetheart: Angel of the Moor, is a historical drama inspired by true events that took place in Nidderdale in 1858. The film blends poetic realism with grounded period detail, exploring themes of obsession, justice, and remembrance through the story of a young woman whose voice was lost to history.

Beyond the screen, Sweetheart forms the first step in Nidd Films’ wider mission. Alongside the film, we are developing a dedicated outreach and heritage programme designed to reconnect audiences with the landscapes, archives, and communities that shaped the story. Through workshops, guided experiences, and creative engagement, we aim to bring the past into dialogue with the present, ensuring that forgotten voices can be heard again.​​​​​​​​​
