As 2025 comes to a close, Nidd Films is entering a deliberate period of preparation ahead of the next funding and development cycle for Sweetheart: Angel of the Moor.

Rather than rushing toward production, this moment is about laying strong foundations — creatively, ethically, and practically. The months ahead will focus on research-led development, refining the film’s narrative and visual language, and ensuring that the project is fully prepared for future funding opportunities when they arise.

Sweetheart is rooted deeply in place, history, and lived experience. Honouring that responsibility means taking time: to listen to the landscape, to continue archival research, and to shape a film that treats its subject with care and integrity. This period of preparation allows the project to grow at the right pace, guided by purpose rather than pressure.

This includes exploring future approaches to audience engagement, community involvement, and ethical pathways for participation that reflect the values of independent British filmmaking.
